I travel quite a bit for work and over the years I have stayed in some nice hotels and some crappy hotels. Here is a list of Hotels That Don’t Suck and a few reasons why I like feel the way I do. I should probably make a list of Hotels That Suck but for now I’ll stick with the ones I like instead.
Proximity to an airport is a big deal for me. On site airport hotels tend to be more expensive but the time savings from not having to return a car and get to and from the airport along with the actual cost of a rental car, can more than offset having to pay $300 a night for a hotel room.

- Brand new
- Nice rooms, flat screen TV (but no HD channels)

- In the Airport, no rental car, etc.
- Marriott – Chicago O’Hare
- At the airport, walk to the terminal
- Nice bar, lots of TVs, decent food
- Excellent workout facility
- Close to the “L”, easy to get downtown
- Hyatt – Orlando Airport
- At the airport, in Terminal B
- Absolutely the best hotel pillows ever!
- Pool which overlooks the runway – relax and watch the planes come and go
- Hilton – Copenhagen Airport
- At the airport
- Nice beds
- Nice bar
- SAS Radisson Sky City – Stockholm Arlanda Airport
- At the airport
- Several restaurant options right outside the lobby
- Free Internet (unusual in Europe)
- Residence Inn Baltimore Inner Harbor
- Walk to the Inner Harbor and Camden Yards
- New or newly renovated
- More breakfast variety than you typically find at a Residence Inn
- Big rooms, nice beds, extra pillows
