Hotels That Don't Suck

I travel quite a bit for work and over the years I have stayed in some nice hotels and some crappy hotels.  Here is a list of Hotels That Don’t Suck and a few reasons why I like feel the way I do.  I should probably make a list of Hotels That Suck but for now I’ll stick with the ones I like instead.

Proximity to an airport is a big deal for me.  On site airport hotels tend to be more expensive but the time savings from not having to return a car and get to and from the airport along with the actual cost of a rental car, can more than offset having to pay $300 a night for a hotel room.

  • Marriott Charles de Gaulle
    • Close to Charles de Gaulle
    • Free Internet
    • Good food, nice bar
    • Full size beds, excellent pillows
  • Grand Hyatt – DFW Terminal D
    • Brand new
    • Nice rooms, flat screen TV (but no HD channels)
    • Beverages and Sandwiches available at Coffee Shop near main lobby
    • In the Airport, no rental car, etc.
  • Marriott – Chicago O’Hare
    • At the airport, walk to the terminal
    • Nice bar, lots of TVs, decent food
    • Excellent workout facility
    • Close to the “L”, easy to get downtown
  • Hyatt – Orlando Airport
    • At the airport, in Terminal B
    • Absolutely the best hotel pillows ever!
    • Pool which overlooks the runway – relax and watch the planes come and go
  • Hilton – Copenhagen Airport
    • At the airport
    • Nice beds
    • Nice bar
  • SAS Radisson Sky City – Stockholm Arlanda Airport
    • At the airport
    • Several restaurant options right outside  the lobby
    • Free Internet (unusual in Europe)
  • Residence Inn Baltimore Inner Harbor
    • Walk to the Inner Harbor and Camden Yards
    • New or newly renovated
    • More breakfast variety than you typically find at a Residence Inn
    • Big rooms, nice beds, extra pillows
